Eighteen tracks whiz by in forty-two minutes and the band does their best to make them distinguishable, changing up tempos and sections, adding a variety of catchy riffs and grooves to keep your head shaking in appreciation when it's not banging with enthusiasm. The production is surprisingly good considering the band's crusty aesthetic. The guitars are jagged and fleshy, cutting through the blasting drums. The bass is sadly a non-factor but that's no surprise for this genre. While later Audio Kollaps records will veer more precisely towards martial death metal, Ultima Ratio's crazed crusty death-grind has wider cross-genre appeal.
